| “There is something particularly enchanting about a well lit garden at night. Garden lighting can really enhance your garden adding a whole new dimension in terms of use and look. The lighting products selected for the catalogue have been thoroughly tested in and around my wild flower garden (designed by Tom Hoblyn), thus ensuring that they meet our standards for ease of use, quality and safety”. Low Voltage Lighting |
 |
Low voltage lighting - Is it safe? Yes. 12 Volt (low voltage) lighting is completely safe in the garden but outdoor transformers should be plugged into a weather proof AC 240 Volt socket.
Step By Step Lighting Guide:
1. Decide what you want to achieve and choose your lights: Light at intervals along a pathway (Sevilla GLT-015) Pick out an edge or step in decking or paving (Luna LED GLT-100 & GLT-105 Light around a pool or even under the water surface (Rock Light GLT-120) Highlight a particular tree, shrub, feature or border (Napoli GLT-065, Rimini GLT-080 and Tripoli GLT-085) 2. Choose your transformer: To work out what size transformer you will need, simply add up the wattage of the individual lights and make sure it does not exceed the wattage of the transformer. For example: 4 x Sevilla post lights: 4 x 5 W = 20.0 W 1 x Tripoli 3 way spot: 1 x 60 W = 60.0 W 5 x Napoli spot: 5 x 20 W = 100.0 W 2 x Rimini spot: 2 x 20 W = 40.0 W 2 x Rock pond lights: 2 x 20 W = 60.0 W 8 x Luna LED markers: 8 x 0.3 W = 2.4 W GRAND TOTAL 282.4 Watts 3. Kits: For less ambitious projects, all of our Low Voltage lights are available as kits, which include a transformer, cable and connectors - check the supplied transformer wattage to see if extra lights can be added. 4. Select your Cable and Connectors: Thick cable SPT-3 (GLT-030/GLT-035) will allow you to extend 50m/163’ from the transformer; with a recommended maximum of 150W per lighting run from each transformer socket. Thin cable (GLT-040/GLT-045) will allow you to extend 30m/98’ from the transformer; with a recommended maximum of 75W per lighting run from each transformer socket. 150 W transformer GLT-001 has two outlet sockets allowing 50m/163’ per socket. 300 W transformer GLT-125 has three outlet sockets allowing 50m/163’ per socket. Snap on connectors very easily allow you to join from the main cable be it thin (SPT-1) or thick (SPT-3), which plugs into the transformer, to extension cable(GLT-035 & GLT-045), and or to the short length of thin (SPT-1) fitted to all lights. Select the appropriate connector(s) depending on whether you are connecting thin to thin (GLT-025), thick to thick (GLT-020) or thick to thin (GLT-010).
